At home gel manicure kit
I decided to go with the Complete Starter kit for $99, which comes with everything you see here. It covered all the basics of nail prep and polish removal, base and top coat, and came with two colors! At first I was bummed they were mini bottles, but realized it was probably a good thing, since I had to restrain myself from buying every color they had (I did buy two extra ones). If you don't have a Sally Beauty rewards card (like a points card), ask about the cost of getting one. You do have to pay upfront, but sometimes they will have discounts on products that will cover the cost of start up and save you some extra money on what you are buying. The kit is very easy to use and comes with exact step by step instructions.
If you have never had a gel manicure, the basic idea is that the polish needs to be cured using a UV light (shown above) in order to make it hard. The benefit is that this polish will last. The last several I have done lasted 3-4 weeks before chipping and peeling. There is a little bit a learning curve, if you are a messy polish painter you will need to have something to clean up your edges on stand-by.
Removal of polish is easy too. Just cut up cotton squares, soak in the provided remover, and cover fingers in tin foil for about 5-10 minutes. The polish will start peeling up, so use the provided white pusher tool to get the polish off.
Final step: Enjoy your gorgeously affordable manicure!
