Lately, I've been thinking a lot more about how I've treated myself physically and emotionally over the last decade. I frequently fell short of the ideal. Some of it was unintentional lack of knowledge. Some of it was laziness mixed with not giving a damn-- an unfortunate combination.
The best thing about life is that every time the sun rises we can start fresh. A new beginning, a clean slate. I've been taking advantage of this opportunity. Drinking less, eating vegetables more. Going to bed earlier, running more frequently. I feel calmer, happier, and rejuvenated. I am mindfully stressing less, and intentionally being more thankful.
Instead of just lounging on a "lazy Sunday", what could you do to change the tone and start leading a healthier, happier life? It is still possible to relax and recharge while treating yourself right.
Here are some ideas to get you started:
Read a book
Cook Sunday dinner for neighbors
Sign up for a new class
Call your mom or dad
Write down 5 things you are blessed with
Take a bubble bath
Go for a walk
YouTube a yoga video
Buy healthy foods
...and a cookbook
Put your phone in another room for the day
We can all do better. We just need the practice.
